Marathon visit & wine tour at Oenotria Land

We will visit the archeological Museum and we will drive through the verdant nature of Marathon Lake along with the peaceful and romantic view of a unique landscape. Moreover we will drive on a time journey, through the history of vineyards and wine. You will be guided at the Wine Museum Kostas Lazaridis, and be informed about the stages of wine production, spirits and balsamic vinegar.   You will also tour the wine aging wine cellars and see the barrels of the “OENOTRIA LAND” red wine and the special cellars with the aged wines in the collecting bottles. Finally, you will see the rich collection with their opening tools, corks, the unique cork tree  and the specially packed 3 lt bottles that are hand-painted.

WINE TOUR PROGRAM :

Morning  departure from Athens.  First stop at Archaeological Museum of  Marathon which holds a rare collection of findings to display. We will continue our tour at Domaine Costas Lazaridis “OENOTRIA LAND“, a time  journey, through the history of vineyards and wine.

The Wine Museum Kostas Lazaridis using modern museum “tools” – video projections, signs in Greek – English, representations – it offers a complete, easy  and understandable aspect of the history, spread  and cultivation of the vine.    There is also a description of wine, spirits production and, finally, the excellent balsamic vinegar.

On our return to Athens we will visit Lake Marathon which is a water supply reservoir formed from the construction of Marathon Dam at the junction of Charadros and Varnavas Torrents near the town of Marathon and we will stop at the  fragma café – restaurant where we will  enjoy the stunning view of the dam.
